Prismatic lithium batteries are rechargeable lithium ion cells that use a flat, rectangular housing instead of the traditional cylindrical metal can. This prismatic shape allows manufacturers to utilize space more efficiently inside a battery pack, especially in applications where thickness and footprint are tightly limited.

Compared with cylindrical cells, prismatic lithium batteries offer higher packing efficiency at the module level and can be shaped to better match the available installation space. They deliver stable voltage, long cycle life and low self-discharge, while different chemistries such as LFP and NMC can be selected to optimize safety, energy density or power capability according to project requirements.
